About the story.

I wrote Imago for one purpose, and that is to entertain. Who is the target audience? Anyone and everyone who likes fantasy or simply a good adventure story. Is it suitable for kids? I say yes, but I would like any concerned parents to know about some of the content.

The most severe language are the words ‘damn’ and ‘hell’, which occur about 15 and 30 times throughout the whole of the 95,000 words in the novel. There is indeed violence, and descriptions of medieval style battles between monsters and men, including descriptions of blood and violence. There is absolutely no sex in this novel, nor even any sexual innuendo. I have never been a fan of reading either, so I have never written either. Perhaps even better than that, there are no politics, for real world politics are far scarier than anything else I could conceive in my fevered brain. I get enough politics thrust at me on a daily basis, and I don’t need any more. I don’t think you do either.

I would also add that I am a father myself, and have always been extremely careful about what my sons were reading or watching. There are no gotcha moments where I am telling anyone what they should think, outside of regarding heroism and self-sacrifice to be qualities that should be revered and emulated.

The best, most concise way I would explain to any concerned parent about whether they would find this book suitable for their child is this...if you would let them watch The Lord of the Rings, Raiders of the Lost Ark, the TV show MASH, or Star Wars (the first three, that is) then I do not believe there would be anything you would find objectionable. (And MASH is pushing it...as I said, there is no sexual innuendo or sexual situations in this book, but that is part of my barometer...I am erring on the side of caution here.)

However...I am a serious Christian. This might give some of you pause. My beliefs are of tantamount importance to my life, and I cannot divorce my heart and my beliefs from my writing.
